Moorage/Launching/Parking
Launching should no longer be a challenge at this location given the new derby date. With morning tides around
6-7 feet, larger boats should be able to launch comfortably at the adjacent Jocks Dock. As an alternative, you can
launch at either Sunny Shores Marina, Cheanuh Marina, or Pedder Bay Marina (see map below), or
you may be
able to
launch at the resort the night before and moor your boat for $1/foot (preference for moorage does go to
resort
guests
first). If you are staying at the resort
however, your slip should come with your booking.
There is also full trailer
length parking that is included with your accommodation.
For those that launch elsewhere, we have discovered that moorage will infact be much tighter than expected
because of seasonal moorage by condo owners. It is recommended that you pull your boat in and drive over to the
event. While there are opportunities for boats under 20', it will be very difficult for larger boats to get moorage.
Please call at their office to see if arrangements can be made.
As for parking, this will be somewhat limiting. There will be parking in the upper lot at the resort, and possibly
parallel parking along all the main lanes. We will also have an agreement with Jocks Dock (entrance just before the
Resort) to use their field area just up from the launch. Other than that, parking will be available along the main
road and will likely accommodate most of the vehicles. Keep in mind that anyone that reserves a townhome also
has their own private spot, long enough also for
your boat and trailer. Car pooling is highly recommended.
